How do children learn about the world? What important events shape a child into the person they will become? How do things adults say and do affect children? At the University of Arizona Child Cognition Lab, we look to answer these and other very important questions. Through a variety of fun activities for children and their families, the Child Cognition Lab is learning about how children experience their world. These studies are directed by Dr. Rebecca Gomez and focus primarily on early language development. Dr. Gomez's research interests include determining how certain patterns, rhythms, and structural cues in sentences play a role in the way infants acquire language.
