Nursing students pursuing their RN, BSN, or MSN from local programs have the opportunity to become Army Officers through the U of A Army ROTC.  Army Nurses make significant contributions in the care of Soldiers, and their families.  Army Nurse Officers work in conjunction with other Army healthcare practitioners in ensuring the proper care of Army, Local National and Civilian patients.  Army Nurse Officers work with the most advanced technology and facilities to ensure the best medical care is provided for the Army’s greatest credentials-our Soldiers, and their families!  Army Nurse Officer enjoy competitive salaries, accelerated career advancement and continuous career enhancing training and higher education.

Incentives for Nursing Students:

Tuition: Army ROTC will provide full tuition (in-state and out-of-state) and all mandatory fees, or optional room and board if the student already has a tuition waiver or academic scholarship.

Monthly Stipend: As a freshman, the stipend is $300 per month, increasing to $500 per month as a Senior.

Book Allowance:  The book allowance is $900 per year.

Nurse Malpractice Insurance: Many nursing schools require their students to obtain student nurse liability (malpractice) insurance prior to beginning their clinical experience and hands-on patient care.  Army ROTC will reimburse the student for all costs and fees associated with this yearly expense.

Immunization and Testing: Army ROTC will reimburse the student for all mandatory immunization and/or laboratory testing fees required in order to begin clinical training.

Allowance for Nursing Uniforms and Clinical Supplies:  Army ROTC provides a one-time payment to cover the cost of required uniforms, lab coat, shoes and equipment to include, but not limited to: stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, penlight, tape measure, bandage scissors, forceps, pocket/belt carrying pouch, clip board, and, if required, clinical bag for community health visits.

Clinical Nursing Fees: If the school requires an additional fee for the use and upkeep of the “learning lab” area, Army ROTC will cover this cost, as well as the cost for CPR certification required prior to entering a hospital.

NCLEX-RN Review Course:  Army ROTC will pay for the cost of a school sponsored NCLEX-RN review course.  If the school does not offer a course, Army ROTC will pay for the cost of one provided by an educational corporation, such as Kaplan.  This is a one-time benefit.

NCLEX-RN Testing Fee: Army ROTC will cover the $200 NCLEX-RN processing fee.

Extension of Benefits for Mandatory Summer Session: If the school requires the student to attend specific courses during the summer between the Sophomore and Junior years and/or Junior and Senior years, Army ROTC will request an extension of scholarship benefits for the summer tuition.

Guaranteed Nurse Specialty of Choice: Upon graduation, the student can select his/her specialty of choice.

Fully-funded Masters Degree: After four years of service, the Army will fully fund graduate study with pay.

Nurse Summer Training Program: Get 3 weeks paid clinical training in places like Hawaii or Germany
