September STX
By 2LT Liber
"Situational Tactical Exercise” (STX) classes took place at the Olive Grove, located west of the Anthropology building. Cadets received instruction from MS IV instructors that taught classes such as squad actions in the assembly area, how to understand a platoon operation’s order as well as convert it to the squad level, and the usage of terrain model kits as a visual aid. After three stations of classes, the MS IV class demonstrated the procedure a squad should follow on an ideal STX lane. Battalion Commander Cadet Matthew Gasser narrated while Cadet Benny Corbell acted as the Squad Leader. The main purpose of the STX simulation was to help prepare the MS IIIs by giving them a better understanding of how to conduct their squad on a STX lane. Training for STX will continue to be a priority for the rest of the semester and future labs will focus on tactical movements and other procedures.
