How do I declare Political Science as my major?

How can I speak to a Political Science professor outside of class time?
All of our professors and instructors hold office hours for students. You can find out what times office hours are and get email addresses from our faculty web page. Also, all faculty office hours are posted directly outside the Political Science department office at the Social Sciences building, room 315.
What are the General Education requirements for Political Science majors?
The General Education requirements for the major will be explained to you at your University Orientation. Are internships available through the Political Science department?
Yes. Internships are strongly encouraged. Normally, a good time to sign up for an internship is during your junior or senior year. Internships are available in Tucson, Sierra Vista, Phoenix and Washington D.C. You can pick-up our internship manual at Social Sciences 315 or call 621-7600 for more information. Can I take courses at a community college and then transfer to the University?
Yes. You can transfer over a maximum of 64 units from a community college. If you plan to attend Pima Community College, please check out the Political Science transfer guide and be sure to consult with an academic advisor for proper course selection.
Do I need to take a second language for a Political Science degree?
Yes. You will need to demonstrate fourth semester proficiency in a second language. There are a variety of second languages that you can choose from. Visit the Second Language Requirements (external link here) for policies and specific information.
Do I have to complete a minor in addition to my Political Science major?
Yes. A minor is required for the degree. Most minors require that you complete a total of 18 units and 9 of the 18 needs to be upper division units (300-499 level courses).
