Wassaja Student Center and American
Indian Graduate Center
The American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC), provides
a gathering place and support program for American Indian
graduate and professional students. Established in 1988, the AIGC
supports cultural, academic, and social activities for American Indian
graduate and professional students at The University of Arizona.
The AIGC helps students to access a special travel fund, writing
program, and a program for individualized academic assistance.
The
AIGC is staffed by Colin R. Ben, coordinator retention programs and services and
is overseen by an Advisory Board comprised of local American Indian
community
members,
leaders and elders.
This is the only center in the country established by a university
with the sole purpose of providing financial support, academic research
opportunities, academic counseling and advising, and cultural support
