Student's Guide Annual Essay Contest and Jan Lipartito Award
What is
it? A contest to decide which essays will appear in the next edition of
A Student’s Guide to First-Year Writing, the required
textbook for all 1st year composition courses at the UofA, and/or in the
Online Student's Guide (http://guide.web.arizona.edu). Prizes
include publication, a free copy of next year’s Guide,
a gift (varies by place), and a certificate.
Entries must include the following:
- Completed Contest and Consent to Publication Form.
- Final copy of your essay without comments or your name on it.
- A hard copy of all rough drafts and a disk version of your final draft.
- Any journals, proposals, or other related writing.
- A copy of your instructor’s assignment sheet for the essay you are submitting.
Place all of the above materials in a 9x12 manila envelope. On the top right corner of the envelope write:
- the course
- type of essay
- your name
Turn all of these materials in to the main English Department office, Modern Languages 445. Sign the essay log book, listing the instructor as GUIDE.
Submitting more than one essay? Fill out a separate form for each essay. Turn each essay in with supporting materials in separate envelopes.
Submitting a portfolio? Fill out one form for the portfolio. List the contents of the portfolio.
When are the essays due? No later than Dec. 18, 2006. Winners will be notified in March 2007.
