Research in the Valley of the Kings

The University of Arizona Egyptian Expedition was instituted in 1989 as a non-profit scholarly entity committed to ongoing excavation, research, and conservation work in Egyptian archaeology, and particularly in the Expedition's focal area of research: the Valley of the Kings and the area of ancient Thebes around modern Luxor, Egypt.

Expedition Staff

The staff of the The University of Arizona Egyptian Expedition is made up of Egyptologists, supporting specialists, and advanced students from several universities in North America and elsewhere, and varies depending upon project needs. Current staff members include Expedition Director Dr. Richard Wilkinson (University of Arizona), Dr. Robert Demarée (Leiden University), Karin Kroenke, Dr.Teresa Moore, Shang-Ying Shih (University of California, Berkeley), Dr. Suzanne Onstine, Dani Phelps (University of Memphis), Linda Gosner, Damian Greenwell, Anne Lopez, Dr. Gonzalo Sanchez (University of Arizona), Richard Harwood (Colorado), Donald Kunz (Arizona), and Ashleigh Goodwin (University of Liverpool). The UAEE South Asasif Conservation Project is directed by Dr. Elena Pischikova (The Metropolitan Museum of Art). The assistance of other staff members who have worked with the Expedition at various times since its inception is acknowledged in our formal reports and publications.

Please note: The Expedition is fully staffed at present and cannot include additional staff or volunteers at this time.
