When do we notify parents?

We respect the trust between students and their families, and we are committed to maintaining those effective relationships. As guided by federal law, we are allowed under certain circumstances to disclose information about students.

Those occasions are:

- Violations of the Student Code of Conduct involving underage students possessing and/or consuming alcohol and/or drugs

- Serious health and safety concerns

The Dean of Students Office will send a Parental Notification Letter, or PNL (PNL Sample Letter) only in instances where a student has been found responsible for an alcohol or drug violation.

The right of access to information in a student’s educational records is governed by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, (FERPA.)
