Saudi Arabia

DISCOVER has submitted a proposal to the Saudi Arabian government that would adapt the DISCOVER Model to the Saudi culture and language, and would at the same time establish several model schools to test its effectiveness.  The proposal is for a five-year project that will create an Arabic version of the Assessment and Curriculum Models, and begin the creation of curriculum.  An optional component of the proposal anticipates the new technology developments that soon will be integrated into the U.S. version.  The new model schools will have an emphasis on science, math, & creativity.  This particular proposal was submitted to the Saudi Ministry of Education.  A similar, perhaps smaller scale, proposal may be submitted to a private school as well.  Development of instruments through this project also would potentially affect ongoing discussions with adapting DISCOVER to Egyptian culture, as well as a possible project in the United Arab Emirates.
