Name: Name change of the
Accounting Department to the School of Accounting.

Description: Changing the title to "School" would improve the ability to compete with peer schools for funds, students, and faculty.
Reasons for Proposed Change: The department competes for top students with ASU, Brigham Young University, and the University of Southern California, and for faculty with the latter two universities. All three, as well as many other peer universities, have designated their accounting units as schools. Recognition of the unit as a School of Accounting will signal our rightful position among outstanding institutions in the field of accounting.
