Traditional dances from continental Africa and throughout the African Diaspora will be introduced in this course. Students will learn rhythms and movements specific to the dance traditions of various ethnic groups. Oral folklore and songs will be taught as well. Studio - 2. 031 (CB22:11)

Pilates Mat Class I for Dancers PILATES MAT CLSS I DNCRS (1) [RPT/2] I This course examines the basic mat work of Joseph Pilates and its development by Ron Fletcher. Through participation in mat exercises, students will learn the basic mat work and basic concepts of body mechanics relating to the exercises. Studio - 2. 031 (CB22:10)
DNC 455. New Course: Biomechanics for Dancers BIOMECHANICS FOR DANCE(3) II The student will become familiar with the evolution of human body form; systematically study skeletal, muscle, connective tissue, and joint anatomy; review principles of mechanics and fundamental Cartesian system for analysis of movement; study basic patterns of movement; assess anatomical illustration styles and uses and become familiar with stress and injury potentials and their prevention. May be convened with DNC 555. Lecture - 3. 031 (CB22:10)
