(3) I II The course focuses on the art making of Contemporary Indigenous
Peoples. Most of the artists will be Native American with a selection from other
parts of the world. We will read and discuss writings by the artists, curators
and poets immersed in indigenous cultures. This class will focus on the events
of the present and recent past which influence the art work so that students
will gain new ideas about contemporary art making by Indigenous people. This
course will be conducted as lecture, discussion and research presentation.

ART 696I. NEW COURSE: Contemporary Indigenous Art CONTEMP INDIGENOUS ART
(3) I The course focuses on the art making of Contemporary Indigenous Peoples.
Most of the artists will be Native Americans with a selection from other parts
of the world. Students will be introduced to ideologies that have influenced the
artists in their art making. Four presentations will be done in the class: 2
short presentations along with 2 elaborate formal research presentations are
required. Also a final 15 page paper done on outside research. Seminar - 3. 014
