Software Mono: The arena program defaults to Hardware mode, but
you should try software mono first. To change this, just click on the
menu that says Hardware, and choose Software Mono instead. (You can
change the defaults for a wide variety of things. Read the complete
readme file.)
This should work if you've done the previous steps and got no error
messages. If you have a 1MB video card or so, you may have to lower the
resolution. Start with the lowest, 320x200, and work your way up.
Should you be unable to run the program even at 320x200, and get some
error about display, email the webmaster
with the error message and the output from the DirectX diagnostics (use
the button in the dxdiag program).
Software RGB: Don't use this option. It's as simple as that.
It'll run the arena all right, but you won't be able to use any data.
It's just something for the programmers to use....
Hardware: This is the ideal mode you want to use if you have a good
video card. If you have a 2+MB video card, it probably will work.
Again, should you have followed all the instructions, and still have
problems, email the webmaster
with the error message and the output from the DirectX diagnostics (use
the button in the dxdiag program).
Filtering: If you can have filtering, definitely turn it on. It
make the graphics look sooooo much better. But you can use this only with
Hardware mode. If you get everything working in Hardware with 600x480,
you've got a good chance. (Matrox Mystique seems to be the only major
video card that doesn't have filtering...)
