AIS People Academic Courses Apply Forms Students Organizations News Jennie JoeJennie R. Joe (Navajo) is a professor in Department of Family and Community Medicine in the College of Medicine (DFCM) and is also on faculty in the American Indian Studies. Professor Joe also is the Director of the Native American Research and Training Center (NARTC). In addition to a number of research reports, articles, and book reviews, Professor Joe also has over 20 chapters published in edited books. She serves on a number of national and international committees and/or boards. Some of the courses taught in AIS by Professor Joe have included: Living in the Place of the Sacred, Research Methods and Health Research, Health Policies and Indian Health, Health Policies and Culture: the Navajo Example, etc. As a researcher, she has and continues to be involved in a number of health-related studies that are conducted in cooperation with tribal groups throughout the country.
