Dina Barajas
Hello, my name is Dina Barajas. I am part Hopi and Mexican American. I am originally from Duarte California, a suburb of Los Angeles. I received my B.A. in Women’s Studies at the California State University, Long Beach. In addition, I attended the Colorado Center for Healing Touch where I gained knowledge of ancient and contemporary, eastern and western indigenous modalities of healing. At the completion of my studies in the Healing Arts, I became a certified Reiki Master. At the present, I am fulfilling my course requirements for the American Indian Studies M.A. program. My current research interest focuses on examining Hopi Women in positions of power. My future academic goals consist of researching the origins of my Hopi ancestry and performing fieldwork upon the Hopi. Upon completion of my Master’s degree I intend to apply for the Ph.D. in American Indian Studies at the University of Arizona. After which, I intend to become a professor in the discipline.
