Mission Statement

The Asian American Faculty, Staff and Alumni Association (AAFSAA) was established in 1989 at the University of Arizona to support and recognize the achievements and interests of Asian American faculty, staff, alumni, and students. It is the mission of AAFSAA to develop partnerships between UA organizations and community business, professional, and service organizations to promote the academic, intellectual, and cultural needs and interests of the UA community and its broader constituency and to foster greater understanding and appreciation of Asian or Pacific American traditions and heritages.

APASA/AAFSAA Mentor Connections Event

Meet, greet and celebrate EDGE and Arizona Assurance Program Scholars on Apiral 20, 2009, 5-7pm. Located at Tucson Room, UA Student Union.

20th Annual Scholarship Awards Dinner

The event will be held on November 14, 2009 at 6:00pm at the Tucson Chinese Cultural Center.

Fall 2009 AAFSAA Grants Competition

The application for the Fall 2009 AAFSAA Grants Competition will be due either September or October.

Honoring the life of Dr. Chang-Yun "Charlie" Fan

"Chang-Yun 'Charlie' Fan died quietly and unexpectedly at home after 91 active years of health and happiness, marred only by a final, brief battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, his 'pretty girl' Tsung-Ying 'June' Teng, daughters Paula and Anna, son Michael and his wife Melanie, two grandsons of whom he was so proud, Steven and David, his sister Chang-Yü in China, and a lively extended family."
