Anthropology 418/518: Southwest Land, Culture, and Society
 
This is the core course for the Southwest Studies Program. It is a survey of human society in the Greater Southwest, including northern Mexico, from pre-Columbian times to the present, integrating evidence from archaeology, ethnohistory, ethnology, linguistics, and biological anthropology. Emphasis is on the interaction of Indian, Hispanic, and Euroamerican peoples and their adaptation to and exploitation of the natural environment through time.
