This site, operated by the Center for Southwest Studies, allows access to a large public database of images. These include handwritten collections acquisition forms, sketches and photographs of museum artifacts, and historic documents. In addition, this site provides a number of educational resources, particularly for K-12 educators. |

"Defining the Southwest" is a project originally developed as a component of a library web exhibit at the University of Arizona. The site is multidisciplinary, with contributions from University faculty in Southwest literature, folklore, anthropology, archaeology, architecture and linguistics. It attempts to "gather multiple visions of what the Southwest might entail." The site's pages include links to historical maps, bibliographies, and digital images. Developed by the University of Arizona, this collection of digitalized exhibits offers access to collections which are limited among the public. Included are photographs, manuscripts, audio recordings, and videotapes. Documents can also be printed directly from the site. The collection is primarily of the more recent historical nature (20th century) and focuses on southern Arizona, including collections related to the mission churches of the Sonoran Desert, Sabino Canyon, and the Bisbee Deportation of 1917. While the information is sometimes basic or even sparse, some collections are impressively extensive. Lists of related references are often listed. |
