  Title Center for Southwest Studies—Digital Image Access Homepage, Fort Lewis College
  Description The "Digital Image Access Homepage" is the beginning of Fort Lewis College's attempt to digitize documents, collection forms, and photographs, specifically those dealing with prehistoric and historic southwestern Colorado human history. This site, operated by the Center for Southwest Studies, allows access to a large public database of images. These include handwritten collections acquisition forms, sketches and photographs of museum artifacts, and historic documents. In addition, this site provides a number of educational resources, particularly for K-12 educators.

  Description The Center of Southwest Studies is the home site of a research center and educational program on the southwest at Fort Lewis college. The site offers various tools for researchers including links to other Southwest programs and archival repositories.

  Description This web site, provided by the Special Collections and Archives Department of NAU's Cline Library, provides online access to a number of items in NAU's Special Collections, most notably historic photographs. This is a great resource for digital images of northern Arizona.

  Title Defining the Southwest
  Description "Defining the Southwest" is a project originally developed as a component of a library web exhibit at the University of Arizona. The site is multidisciplinary, with contributions from University faculty in Southwest literature, folklore, anthropology, archaeology, architecture and linguistics. It attempts to "gather multiple visions of what the Southwest might entail." The site's pages include links to historical maps, bibliographies, and digital images. It also offers links and access to student web projects. This page is a good general resource.

  Description The Historical Photograph Collection is a searchable online catalog of the photographic holdings of the Arizona State Library. The catalog can be searched by subject, photographer, and place of photograph (as well as several other catagories). The site also provides ordering information for full-size and digital photographic prints.

  Title Images of the Southwest
  Description Developed by the University of Arizona, this collection of digitalized exhibits offers access to collections which are limited among the public. Included are photographs, manuscripts, audio recordings, and videotapes. Documents can also be printed directly from the site. The collection is primarily of the more recent historical nature (20th century) and focuses on southern Arizona, including collections related to the mission churches of the Sonoran Desert, Sabino Canyon, and the Bisbee Deportation of 1917. While the information is sometimes basic or even sparse, some collections are impressively extensive. Lists of related references are often listed.

  Description Established in 1864 by the territorial government, the Arizona Historical Society possesses manuscripts, rare books and maps relating to the prehistory and history of the Southwest. The online catalog is easy to use and provides content summaries with each item record. The site also offers links to other libraries and databases. The AHS also provides a photo reproduction service; details are available in the "Photos" section.

  Title Sharlot Hall Musuem Research/Archives
  Description The research/archives of the Sharlot Hall Museum provide resources on the history of Yavapai County and the surrounding region. The web site contains suggested manuscripts on the history of Arizona; an online searchable index of photographs; an online map collection; and a searchable index of books and genealogical materials. The Research/Archives site also provides an online "Ask a Research Question" service.

  Title Southwest Jewish Archives
  Description The Bloom Southwest Jewish Archives at the University of Arizona Library chronicles the experience of Jewish settlers in the Southwest. The website describes the Archives' mission and holdings, presents several educational online exhibits, provides information about historical research projects, suggests links for futher information, and also contains a very useful bibliography of suggested readings. This site is highly recommended for anyone interested in the history of different ethnic and religious groups that settled the Southwest.

  Title The Photography Collection, Western History/Genealogy Department, Denver Public Library
  Description This photograph collection, provided by the Western History / Genealogy Department of the Denver Public Library in partnership with the Colorado Historical Society and Denver Art Museum, includes a search engine for 100,000 on-line historic photographs of western states. Many images of the Southwest are available. The site also contains images of artifacts from the Colorado Historical Society and Denver Art Museum. High-resolution prints of the images are available for sale.

  Title Traveling the Rails in Grand Style: Fred Harvey Collection
  Description This online exhibit, provided by the University of Arizona Library, contains photographs and supplemental materials of the Fred Harvey hotels, 1896-1945. Photographs are available in the "Finding Aid" section; also available are a variety of links on the Harvey hotels and the railroad.
