  Description The Logan Museum's "Checklist of Pottery Types" provides descriptions and photographs of a large number of southwestern pottery types. The list is based on Colton's 1965 Check List of Southwestern Pottery Types, with updates to accommodate recent scholarship.

  Title Eastern New Mexico University Online Lithic Type web site
  Description The online Lithic Type web site provides images of various raw materials used in the manufacture of lithic tools. Though not specific to the Southwest, a majority of the materials included are from source areas in New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Kansas.

  Title Field Guide to the Ceramic Types of the Casas Grandes Region
  Description The field guide to the ceramics of the Casas Grandes Region was written to "assist individuals unfamiliar with the Casas Grandes region to gain a working familiarity with the ceramics." The classifications used are based on Di Peso et al. 1974. The ceramic types discussed are Casas Grandes Viejo and Medio types that are organized by plainwares, bichromes, and polychromes. Many of the types have pictures as well as written descriptions. A Spanish version of this page is also available.

  Description Though not specific to the Southwest, this is a useful artifact identification guide for anyone working in historic archaeology. The guide provides information on both classifying and dating different historic bottle types. Background information on technology and bottle-making is included, as are photographs

  Title Virtual Ceramic Manual for field identification of Southwestern pottery types
  Description This identification guide provides photographs and methods for identifying different ceramic types of the southwest. Though there are many contributors to this project, the site is maintained by Kelley Hays-Gilpin, Associate Professor of Anthropology at Northern Arizona University. Information is organized by type of ceramic.
