INSTRUCTIONS FOR FAMILIES AND GUESTS
UA Commencement is a dignified ceremony where guests are encouraged to celebrate the successes of graduating students. Throwing food and other objects during the ceremony does not personify dignity and respect. Please do not throw food or other items during commencement and preserve the ceremony for future students and families.
Tickets are not required for the University-wide ceremony in McKale Center. Tickets may be required for college convocations.
Ceremonies will begin as soon as the platform group has been seated and should conclude within approximately one hour and thirty minutes.
Several of the colleges will have receptions and convocations. Please see College Convocations for more information.
A list of hotels and motels can be obtained by checking the Tucson Convention & Visitors Bureau website at: http://visittucson.org/
Mortar Board, the Senior Honorary, will be selling flowers before and after the Commencement ceremony.
Parking is available on Commencement Day at all University surface lots and garages. Parking adjacent to McKale Center is restricted for disabled parking only. Enke Drive, in front of McKale Center, will close to traffic for 30 minutes after the Commencement ceremony. We strongly suggest that you park north of the Mall or south of Sixth Street to avoid traffic congestion and parking confusion. Distance to McKale from these areas is a pleasant walk, or you can take the UA shuttle. Shuttle service will be provided from 7:30 a.m. until 12 noon. The shuttle stops are located as shown on the parking map. For more information, please call Visitor Programs at (520) 621-3710.
